· Even with rabies vaccine , the label may be misleading in that a 3 year duration of immunity product may also be labeled & sold as 1 year duration of immunity product. · Some feline vaccines have been linked to vaccine –induced sarcomas in susceptible individuals. Recommendations include having vaccinations administered in a leg so the limb can be amputated if necessary. · Stress associated with surgery , going to a new home , or travel can interfere with pet’s ability to produce a positive immune response. That it can, in fact, contribute to life –threatening reactions. · Indoor cats may NOT need the same vaccination protocol as cats with access to the outdoors. Discuss this with your vet before saying “ yes” to vaccinations ! · Some vaccines might not be necessary for your pet or in your particular area. These are called non-core vaccines. These, too, can cause serious adverse reactions. · Non –adjuvant vaccines are now available for cats . Adjuvants are chemicals added to vaccines to increase immune response .
